Debate Ettiqute

While doing my general research regarding what is going in the world of religious debate, something bothers me.Debate etiquette. Honestly when I talk to people with different points of view, if the person I am arguing with cannot stop interrupting me, then I am sorry. I am moving on to another person or going to do something more productive. I have asked people now to at least go back and forth from 1 to 3 minutes to make a point, for example. Otherwise, I think that nobody is benefitting and that energy that could opportunities that could otherwise be used in exchanging valuable information. is lost. Some good examples of this can be seen online in youtube videos in places like Speakers' Corner in the UK.
I would love to visit the place one day just to see all that energy in person. But I think that a huge percentage of the people there might move on rather than engaging in very informal discussion rules. I think one thing that additionally benefit from this experience would be to allow each side to repeat what they think the other side is saying so that there are no misunderstands and so that one would not lose time and energy arguing against a position that the other side is not actually trying to see.  But I think I would go crazy after a while. Anyway, I just thought I would share this tiny tidbit of info to perhaps discuss issues with a greater degree of mutual respect for one another. In the Quran God Almighty says:
وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ۚ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ
[ ص: ٣٢٥]

definition of sitdown argument [or sit-down sit-down]

While I am just starting now to answer some questions and to make statements regarding, you know, the subject in the title of the web page, I need this definition online so nobody can steal it. So please ignore this post, it is just a formality:

Definition of:
SITDOWN ARGUMENT

-also known as sit-down argument

-an argument that is so potent that the opposition is better off just sitting down and shutting their mouth before they embarrass themselves.

Why assume Unitarianism?

Trinitarian apologists claim that assuming Unitarianism, the belief that God is one entity, is not a must assumption, and that the concept of God one God must allow, or this door cannot be closed, that there may be multiple persons in the being of God. must not exclude that the oneGod may be three persons in one being.

This is usually brought up in debates in which the trinity (or who Jesus is) is defended or attacked by one side of an argument.

The fact of the matter is that Unitarianism must be assumed unless evidence otherwise is given. If God can be a being shared by three persons, such as in the Trinity of Christianity, then there can be no basis for puting any limitations on the nunmber of persons who share eternal

The doctrine of the Trinity is simply that there is one eternal being of God - indivisible, infinite. This one being of God is shared by three co-equal, co-eternal persons, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.

Preliminary information on issues related to non-Muslim attacks

I will try to be as brief as possible. I will start audio commentaries on debates/classes or writings answering objections to Islam. Just as an FYI, I consider the following a preliminary list of names of leading non-Muslim apologists:
William L. Craig of Reasonable Faith.org
James White of aomin.org (Alpha and Omega Ministries),
Michael R. Licona : Associate Professor in Theology at Houston Baptist University and the director of Risen Jesus, Inc.
Ravi Zacharias: RZIM.org
Dr. Michael Brown: AskDrBRown.org
Dinesh D’Souza

James White from aomin.org (Alpha and Omega Ministries)
William Lane Craig: Reasonable Faith.org
Michael R. Licona
Associate Professor in Theology at Houston Baptist University and the director of Risen Jesus, Inc.
Ravi Zacharias: RZIM.org
Dr. Michael Brown: AskDrBRown.org
Dinesh D’Souza : Conservative political commentator

Dr.James White is constantly being attacked by even Christians. However I consider him to be the most fair and honest Christian apologist out there. Probably the majority of my work will hopefully God willing be interacting with him and his material from writings, blogs, and debates.

A new mission/focus

The religion of Islam is under severe scrutiny  at this moment. If you are in the world of podcasts/youtube debates/twitter/facebook you probably already  know this. I have decided to dedicate much more time to clarifying issues and objections raised against Islam, and topics closely related to it. My largest focus will be 2 subjects: answering critics/criticisms against Islam, and answering questions about Islam. Regarding the latter I am in contact with scholars who will help me or check what I write since I am not a trained scholar by any University or Program. What I know is from what I have read from my teachers and in regards to other religions, what I have heard on youtube or their own writings or podcasts. For example, William L. Craig, who is considered by many to be the most prominent Christian Apologist in the English speaking world,  has audio lessons of classes, debates available online, podcasts, books and more. In one's studies one must be fair and seek clarification regarding issues from all the resources the person has made available to answer any particular issue. My next post will contain information about where I get my information on Islam, and also introductory information regarding Christian apologist attacks, and attacks on Islam from those that come from other traditions.  Sorry for the long post!

Question from Jason in Dallas

Question: I wanna know and understand how a book can come 600 years after the crucifiction and contradict our historical sources which all attest to the fact that Jesus was Crucified by Pilate?

Reply:
Thank you for posing this question. I am going to give you a quick answer, and you can read more about this specific issue in an essay I am writing. Anyway, now to the question. Muslims believe that the Quran was revealed by God to the Prophet (pbuh). So the number of years makes no difference. It could have been 600 or 6000 years after the event, and there would be no problem, as it was God the Almighty who has stated this. So the question itself is really a simple minded objection. I am not saying you are simple minded, but when Christian apologists use this objection, knowing full well that Muslims believe the Quran to be the word of God should have been enough to cause a refrain in posing such a weak objection. Thats the short answer. The long answer dealing with this and many other issues related to it will be in a short essay that will be put on the site at a later date. I hope this answers your question. If you have any additional questions please let me know.

Peace and Regards,
Magdi "Max"

Introduction to IslamTTP

Peace be unto you all (Asslamu Alaykum),

After a long break, I've decided to revive this page.

The purpose of this page:
1)To answer both the most common and the most difficult RELIGIOUS questions, AS SUCCINCTLY AND AS BRIEFLY AS POSSIBLE. I believe most issues do not need paragraphs, but only a few sentences to explain the issues.

 2) To Answer questions relating to Islam using only the Quran and Sunnah (meaning the established religious practices promoted by the Prophet Muhammad, may God's peace and blessings be upon him).

3) To answer questions on any subject in which Islam is mentioned in relation to other religions, This includes addressing apologetic attacks against Islam and promoting the teachings of Islam as the true religion of God Almighty.

4)To answer questions on Muslim sectarian issues between the many schools of thought.

5)Finally, I am just going to repeat what I said at the beginning. My aim is to give readers answers in a straight to the point fashion. No need for long essays. Since truth stands out clearly from falsehood, then explaining what is true should be obvious enough and should not require lengthy and wordy explanations.

I ask God almighty to always guide me in this effort, and that He keeps my heart always open to what is objectively and clearly true, and to always lead me along the path of His liking.

Posts will be made soon.
